SWAP established 4 water kiosks in remote and underserved areas in collaboration with international partners, local engineers and county government. They are solar powered pumping raw water from contaminated rivers. This water is subjected to self-cleaning water filtration technology. It has inline water disinfection and aeration with ozone gas. It is fully automated and no cash transfer is involved since customers use pre-paid cards to buy water.  Water committees have been trained to manage the system and create awareness to the local communities on safe handling, storage and hygiene at their households. The water is sold at affordable rates. It serves communities, markets, villages, schools and health centres who previously had no access to clean and safe drinking water. It has reduced water borne diseases and improved health and hygiene.

 

We are seeking financial support for:

• Monitoring visits and technical support

• Water quality testing

• Renovations and repairs

• Additional water tanks to increase storage capacity

• Refresher trainings of local water committees

• Installation of master metre
