We have a distribution model of health products which are sold by community health volunteers to generate income and improve health. The area is prone to flood and we have provided support to families affected by flood in evacuation camps to prevent outbreaks and mitigate the impact.

Message from SWAP's founder

Dear friends of SWAP
As I look back at 2025 I am filled with pride and admiration at the resilience, tenacity and hard-work of my colleagues and our partners. 2025 was a turbulent year for both the region where we work and for our organization. We rallied together to keep doing the work we do best with a mission to provide innovative solutions for improved health and economic status of communities.

We launched our next strategic plan for 2026-2028, which strongly focuses on bringing about positive change, preventing diseases, contributing to public health research, evidence based programming and community support. We contributed to a total of 64 publications in peer reviewed international journals, sharing evidence and influencing policies. Despite sudden unprecedented funding cuts we continued with key essential activities, while reaching out to
new partners and funders. We played a key role in disease surveillance during flood and the cholera outbreak in collaboration with humanitarian partners and the county government. SWAP further actively engaged and participated at the various global and regional advisory and technical working groups.

On a personal note, I relocated to the Netherlands, after 40 years Africa, 30 years Kenya and 20 years providing leadership and technical support for SWAP in Kenya. I will remain board member and dedicated to support resource mobilization while searching for new partnerships through the Dutch
SWAP Foundation. We are deeply grateful for your invaluable support and look forward for continued partnership. Your commitment to SWAP and our communities is a true inspiration. Thank you.
